Obituary of Adrianus "Stippy" Antonius van Stiphout

December 6, 1938 – May 23, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ad ‘Stippy’, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Ad passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones on May 23rd at the age of 83. Beloved husband and best friend of Rikki, proud father of Astrid (Mark), Edward (Nancy), Monique (Brent), and Jason (Cheryl), much-loved Opa to Quintin, Austin, Cassidy, Monique, Taylor, Dawson and Logan.

Ad was born in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Optimistic and adventurous, he left The Netherlands for Canada in 1963. Three months later, he brought the love of his life, Rikki, to Canada too. They married in 1964 in Toronto and began a life of many accomplishments. A dedicated husband and family man, Ad was known to put his family first, always. He had a natural talent for entertaining, cuisine, and business which led him to great success in the hospitality industry. His home was full of love and laughter; everyone was welcome. Ad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2002. Presented with many challenges, his will to survive and remain positive was extraordinary. He could often be heard saying, “Tomorrow is a new day!” His love for life and kind personality fostered many great memories that will forever be instilled in the hearts of others.

In lieu of flowers, and in memory of “Stippy”, please pay it forward with a simple act of kindness to a friend, a loved one, a stranger. Hold the door, say ‘hello’, smile, lend a hand, hug a loved one and let them know they are loved.

Family and friends are invited to visit at De Stefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (905)440 3595, on Saturday May 28th. Visitation will be held from 10:00am – 11:00am. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 11:00am.
