Obituary of Charlie Ball

Please share a memory of Charlie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Surrounded by loved ones, Charlie was Promoted to Glory on December 11, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Joy, their three children, Daniel (Brittany), Rachel (Lorne), and Sarah, and his sister Sue (William).  Papa is missed by granddaughter Margo. Also lovingly remembered by his mother in law Major Lorraine Gerard (Major John Gerard was Promoted to Glory the day before Charlie). The whole extended family was blessed by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces who loved and miss their Uncle Charlie. He is also remembered by Rebecca, Charissa, Lynette, and their families.

Born to Art and Effie Ball on April 15, 1948, Charlie was always close with his family, including cousins. As a faithful servant of God within The Salvation Army, he is remembered as a man of quiet faith who testified by his service to others.  He was a Bandsman, Sunday School Youth Worker, Junior Soldier Preparation Teacher, Flag Sergeant, Beginner’s Band Master, hockey coach, and good friend. Charlie was a faithful soldier of God all his life and is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Charlie met Joy on January 9th 1987 (an anniversary they always celebrated) and she quickly became the great love of his life, getting married that same year. Always a Dad full of fun, jokes, and puns, Charlie loved and supported his children as they followed their dreams and was known to always pray for and encourage them in life.  He always took a great interest in whatever his children were doing including driving to hockey or baseball games, camp, piano, guitar, or drum lessons, cooking, gardening, and many other activities.
