It is with great sadness that we announce Elizabeth Heiler (nee Mehn) passed away peacefully at Lake Ridge Health Center in Oshawa on February 11th, in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Alfons Heiler, during her final days, she was surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Elizabeth will be remembered to many in Whitby as the friendly face of Midget Market and Andrews Shoes, the two businesses she started with Alfons during their 50 plus years in Durham. Caring mother to Peter Heiler and his wife Patricia. Proud grandmother of Valery Curtis (Joel) and Brian Heiler (Michelle). Cherished great grandmother to Jack Curtis, Amy and Dean Heiler. Elizabeth was born in 1922 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, she married Alfons Heiler in 1943 and the family immigrated to Canada in 1954, eventually settling in Whitby, Ontario. Elizabeth loved life, and had a great talent for appreciating the world and people around her. She embraced everyday as a blessing and had incredible strength. She will be deeply missed by her family and close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 903 Giffard Street, Whitby, on Thursday, February 13th at 11:00 am. Interment Thornton Cemetery, Oshawa. Reception to follow in the Aviation Lounge of the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa(south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road)905-440-3595. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.destefanofuneralhomes.ca
