Obituary of Stephen Jakabfy

Please share a memory of Stephen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stephen passed away unexpectedly at the age of 46. Born (1975) a smart and loving son to proud parents Tom and Nancy Jakabfy and siblings Michael Jakabfy (Sheilah) and Ann-Marie Burger (Scott). Steve loved his nieces and nephews, Charlotte and Lincoln(Burger) and Matthew and Isabelle(Jakabfy).

Stephen was a kind and gentle soul that never hesitated to help someone in need.

Growing up Stephen was a huge baseball fan,  and enjoyed playing baseball with his friends.  In the winter, Steve would partner up with his brother to challenge his sister and father in a competitive game of pond hockey.  Stephen was extremely gifted in math and science, using his talent to become an  Ontario Scholar at Dwyer C.H.S., a Chemical Engineer at the University of Waterloo and then later earning a diploma in Pharmaceutical and Food Technology at Durham College.   When he wasn't studying, you could find him working side by side with his father, helping friends with various projects or challenging himself with puzzles.

We are heartbroken to lose you, but find comfort knowing you will have peace from an illness that has gripped you for so many years.

Private funeral arrangements by De Stefano Funeral Home, Oshawa. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Brooklin on September 1,2021 followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery Whitby.

Donations may be made in Stephen's honour to the CMHA (Oshawa) or the Canadian Diabetes Association
