Obituary of James Doiron
James “Jamie” Doiron
Passed away unexpectedly on February 10th, 2022 in his home. Jamie was a loving
and devoted husband to Nathalie, and a proud, adoring father to their three beautiful
children; his sons, William (Megan) and Geoffrey (Kristel-Anne); and his daughter, Drew
(Matt). Cherished brother to his sister Patricia Simms, brother-in-law John Simms
(deceased), his nephews, Robert and Craig Simms, brother to Richard Doiron,
son-in-law to Mary Jane Cloquet and Ferdinand Borean. The child of an Air Force family
stationed in Nova Scotia, he shared many fond stories about his family, especially his
father receiving complementary bags full of scallops and shrimp, from the Northshore
fishermen. Jamie's first career as a radio DJ channeled his appreciation of music to his
children. Most recently, he was recognized for a twenty year career with the Ontario
Public Service.
Jamie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; camping and fishing with his children, a
creative soul who delighted in landscape photography and oil painting. A passionate fan
of soccer, he enjoyed cheering for the Canadian soccer team and was looking forward
to a planned trip to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. Jamie’s greatest joy was being an
adoring father to his beloved children. He loved spending time around the family dinner
table and backyard bonfires listening to his kids’ banter. Despite his competitive nature
when playing the Catan board game, he always expressed proud feelings towards his
daughter for outsmarting him. As a true foodie, he enjoyed his wife’s French family
tradition of escargot, Belgian chocolates and beer.
Jamie was an avid reader and engaging conversationalist about politics and current
events. As a true Maritimer, Jamie carried his warmth with him all the way from the east
coast to Ontario. Anyone who met him was greeted by his friendly nature and kind
smile, and his contagious, vibrant laughter will be remembered forever with love.
