Obituary of Hanna Bell Maulseed

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Hanna Bell Maulseed, who passed away on February 10, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Hanna was born in Portland, Jamaica on September 10, 1961. She found her calling in writing poetry and had dreams of one day becoming a successful poetry writer.  Hanna was the 10th child of sixteen children, whom she is survived by thirteen siblings, eight sisters “Christine, Ivy, Ferris (Grace), Ellen (Faith), Verona (Donna), Mable (Hope), Lucita (Ceta) and Viviene and five brothers Renny, Eustace, Benjamin, Moses, and John”.  Predeceased by mother, Adassa Maulseed, Father, Eustace Mclean, Stepfather Lutreal Maulseed, brother, Alfred (Freddie), and sisters Ruth (Fay), and Hartenece (Tency).

Hanna leaves behind 4 children, Orchester aka Marlon, Kishton aka Keechi, Yanique, Junique, daughter in law Juddian, her 5 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation has already taken place. The family is requesting your presence as we celebrate Hanna’s life on  Monday March 11th at 11:00am at the  DeStefano Funeral Home 1289 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa  Interment of cremated remains will follow at Pine Rdge Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may be made through donation to the cancer society in honour of Hanna Bell Maulseed.
