Obituary of John Sanders Lowe

It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Sanders Lowe, born October 29, 1933, announce his passing on August 18, 2022. John was married to the love of his life, Ruby (née Ward) on September 4, 1954, enjoying 2 weeks short of 68 years married. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Mary Lowe, his three sisters Mary Hoover, Ruth Piper and Sue Treen, and two brothers Ross and Bill. 

John will be dearly missed by his two daughters Irene Leahy (Joe) and Janet Hartshorne (Norm), his three grandchildren Megan Leahy (Chris), Lauren Isherwood (Kyle) and Eric Hartshorne (Rebecka). He also had three great grandchildren, Otto, Parker and Ellie.

Dad was lucky enough to share many interests in his life with friends and family. He was an avid hockey player in his younger years, a big sports fan, and enjoyed many great days on the lake fishing for his catch of the day. Dad proudly retired at 52 after a long career at GM to fulfill his passion as a hobby farmer. He had Black Angus cattle, Morgan horses, and a very large garden that produced a bounty he shared with all. His greatest love in life was his wife, children and grandchildren.

Dad, we cannot express how much you will be missed by each and every one of us. May the memories you have left us with be everlasting.

Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home 1289 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa (905) 440 3595 on Saturday August 27^th from 12:30 – 1:30pm.  A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 1:30pm. Interment will follow at Thornton Cemetery.

Memorial donations  may be made to either Therapeutic Paws of Canada (tpoc.ca), in memory of his love and care for Maggie-May, or the Krembil Brain Institute (uhnfoundation.ca/programs/brain/), in honour of Dr. Tang-Wai’s special care.
